Inaugurated in 1959, the National Zoological Park, popularly known as Chidiya Ghar, is located near the historic Purana Qila (Old Fort) in Delhi. Initially called the Delhi Zoo, it was renamed in 1982 with the vision of making it the model zoo of India.
