History & Local Significance
Chadwick Falls is surrounded by fascinating folklore. Earlier, the waterfall was known as ‘Chidku Jhaar’, where Chidku means sparrow and Jhaar means waterfall in the local language. It was believed that only sparrows could reach its peak due to its steep depth and height.
With time, Britishers living in Shimla mispronounced it as “Chadwick,” and the name stayed.
