History of Palace Hotel

The Palace Hotel dates back to 1891, when it was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. The Maharaja was exiled from Shimla by the British due to a controversial affair involving the daughter of the British Commander-in-Chief. He then chose Chail as his new summer capital, and this magnificent palace became his royal residence.

In 1972, the estate was acquired by Himachal Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) and was later transformed into a heritage hotel, allowing guests to relive regal charm and aristocratic hospitality.
