History of Kazinag National Park
The Kazinag region has long been recognized as an important wildlife corridor between the Himalayan ranges of Kupwara and the Pir Panjal belt. Due to rich biodiversity and forest coverage, the region was later declared a protected national park to conserve endangered wildlife species and prevent deforestation and illegal hunting.
Over the years, the government and forest departments have worked to safeguard rare species such as the Markhor and musk deer from extinction. Due to its strategic border location, human intrusion is minimal, which has helped preserve its ecosystem naturally.
