History of Gurudwara Pathar Sahib

The history of Gurudwara Pathar Sahib dates back over 500 years. According to legend, when Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited Ladakh during his journey to Tibet, a demon living in the hills felt threatened by his teachings. The demon pushed a massive rock downhill to crush Guru Nanak Ji while he was meditating. Miraculously, the rock turned soft and formed an imprint of the Guru’s back, leaving him unharmed. The furious demon tried again, but the rock bounced back, injuring him instead. Realizing Guru Nanak's divine power, the demon sought forgiveness.

This sacred rock, Pathar Sahib, is still preserved inside the shrine and worshipped by devotees from across the world.
