Beautifully nestled on the border of Indo-Nepal, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the district of Behraich in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Before its establishment as a wildlife sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh in May 1975, Katarniaghat was a part of the West Behraich Forest Division. Sprawls over a massive area of 550 sq km, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary is home to dense terai jungle that lounge over the ranges of Kakraha, Motipur, Dharampur, Nishangarah, and Kareniaghat. A major chunk of the luxuriant woodlands at Kataniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary consists of Sal (Shorea Robusta) and Teak (Tectona Grandis).

However, the other trees with which the sanctuary is also dotted are Asna (Terminalia Alata), Haldu (Adina Cordifolia), Bahera (Terminalia Balerica), Kusuma (Schleicher Oleosa), Asidh (Lagerstroemia Parviflora) and more. Not just this, the ecosystem of this renowned sanctuary also includes gorgeous grasslands, swamps, and wetlands.
