History of Motidungari Temple

The history of the temple states that one day the King of Mewar was going back to his palace after a long tiring journey and he was carrying a Ganesh idol on a bullock cart. The king wanted to build a temple and had decided that wherever the cart would stop for the first time that would be the place of the temple.

As per the legends, the cart stopped at the bottom of the Moti Dungri hills and this is the place where we see the Ganesh temple today. The temple was constructed under the supervision of Seth Jai Ram Paliwal and initially, it was only visited by the followers of Lord Shiva. But in today’s date, the temple has developed into a famous tourist spot in Jaipur.
