History of Laxmi Niwas Palace

Maharaja Ganga Singh, the ruler of Bikaner during the 1900s, built this palace for his residential purposes. The palace was built following the architectural style of Indo-Saracenic. The palace was designed by renowned British architect, Col. Samuel Swinton Jacob. The palace was built to provide a means of livelihood to the common people of Bikaner and a glorious residence for the royal family.

Architecture of Laxmi Niwas Palace

Located in the magnificence of the state of Rajasthan, the Laxmi Niwas Palace is one of the most gorgeous and splendid examples of architecture that has been honorably maintained with its former glory. Built during the 1900s, the Laxmi Niwas Palace is still a monument of impeccable artwork and architecture.

The palace is made from red sandstone material and has been decorated with the handiwork of several artisans and masons who catered to the beautiful and artistic needs of the then Maharaja Ganga Singh. Undoubtedly, the palace’s beauty is the most talked about and is a popular tourist attraction of Bikaner to date.

During the golden years of the Laxmi Niwas Palace, the palace was open to only royalties and dignified position-holders. The Laxmi Niwas Palace has now been converted and upgraded to a luxury hotel which is owned by Golden Triangle Fort & Palace P. Ltd. This heritage site is under their care and maintenance as they offer marvelous accommodations and amenities. There are 5-star restaurants like Swarna Mahal and Hari Mahal.

There are pools, a library accompanied by a reading room, sports, a billiards room, a trophy bar, and much more. The rooms come as Historical suites, Royal Deluxe Rooms, Royal Suites, and Palace rooms. Many galleries and festivals are held all through the year which can be attended.
