Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary

Recognized as an extension of Khangchendzonga in the East Sikkim, Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a large species of mammals and avian fauna. Spread in an area of 51 sq km that has an elevation ranging between 1524 to 2749 meters, the sanctuary also comprises hamlets including that of popular tourist attraction, Mangan. Fambong Lho is ideal for birdwatching as it shelters bird species like the endangered Rufous-headed hornbill and laughing thrush. The sanctuary is also rich in animals like red panda, barking deer, yellow-throated marten, and Himalayan brown bear, and in flora with an abundance of rhododendron and orchids.

Fambong is a perfect place to witness the rich wildlife of Sikkim. Spotting animals and birdwatching are the best things to do in the sanctuary. Since the place is quite close to the capital city, Gangtok, one can opt for its sightseeing tour.
