Pin Parvati Pass Trek, Himachal Pradesh

Dubbed as an exciting attraction for the seasoned trekkers, Pin Parvati is a high mountain pass that connects the lush green Parvati valley on the Kullu side with the Pin valley on the Spiti side. The pass was discovered in 1884 by Sir Louis Dane, who was then looking for an alternate to reach Spiti Valley. Pin Parvati Pass has captured the imagination of every adventurer, and one can reach there by trekking through the lush green forest in the monsoon season, July to September. This trans-Himalayan trek is the shortest route between the Kullu and Spiti Valleys. Once over the Pin-Parvati pass (5319m), there is a complete change in landscape – the mountain slopes immediately turn barren and rugged. The prevalent culture of the inhabitants also changes from Hinduism on the Kullu side to Buddhism in Spiti.

July to September

During the early months of the year, there are chances of snow on high passes, which considerably melts by August. During the monsoon season, the Kullu-Manali area remains affected due to rain, but when we talk about the high places like Lahaul and Spiti, the weather remains warm and sunny (12-20 °C) during the day, while the night temperature could be in minus (-2 to 6 °C). During September and October, trekkers can experience good weather, with little snowfall. With the onset of October, the day temperature is hovering around 12-18 °C but the evening starts getting comparatively colder with (- 6) to 4 °C.
