Leo movie review: Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vijay's film is a sure shot 'Blockbuster'

The much-anticipated release of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay-starrer Leo hit the big screens at 4 am IST on Thursday, putting an end to the hype and anticipation surrounding the movie, it also answered the question of whether Leo is part of the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) or not.

Leo screenings began in Kerala and Karnataka as early as 4 a.m. The FDFS of the film in Tamil Nadu started at 9 a.m. Even though the Puducherry government gave permission for 7 a.m. shows, the film’s FDFS starts at 9 a.m. in the national capital of New Delhi. Meanwhile, Leo’s Telugu premiere has now hit a roadblock as a City Civil Court on Tuesday passed an order to withhold the release of the film until October 20. The order was passed after Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainment approached the court and claimed that he had the right to the title ‘Leo’.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Leo has already generated Rs 34 crore in day one revenue. As Leo marks the second collaboration between Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, particularly following the latter’s pan-India success with the Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, expectations are soaring for the movie. Also starring Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, and Mansoor Ali Khan in key roles, the film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth recently extended his best wishes to Leo. Rajinikanth said, “I wish the film a huge success.” He added, “I pray to God the film should become a huge success.” Tamil Nadu minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin also came forward in praise of the film. He called Vijay ‘Thalabathy Anna’ and gave a thumbs up to him.

Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' has hit the screens worldwide on Thursday (October 19). The movie, which has been dubbed into Telugu, is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Kanagaraj had earlier directed Vijay's 'Master' which had turned out to be a successful venture at the box office. Hence, their second collaboration has generated a lot of buzz.

The movie has Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the role of antagonist. This is his second South Indian movie after blockbuster 'KGF 2'. Trisha Krishnan has paired up with Vijay in the movie which also has Arjun Sarja, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Priya Anand, and many others in the cast.

Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for 'Leo'. 'Bloody Sweet' and 'Naa Ready' songs have stuck the chord with the listeners. The film has Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography and Philomin Raj's editing.
